SATURDAY MAY 3, 2014
After having weather issues and yeilding to other events. The JBRPT is preparing to finish off the season with a pair of back to back events begining on Saturday, May 3, 2014 then the following Sunday, May 11th which will be our popular Mother's Day event that will be special event this year.
We will then have our final event of the regular season on June 1, 2014 when we make our first trip to Emerson Lanes in Parkersburg, WV. This event will have added scholarship money and points to close the regular season and then the following Sunday, June 8, 2014 will be our Tournament of Champions at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes.
Saturday, May 3rd will kick it all off at AMF Noble Manor Lanes. General Manager Gil Gaugler has been great though all the changes we have had to make with the event at his center. After 2 reschedule dates, we are set to
go on a Saturday vs. Sunday and a 9 am start vs. our normal 10 am. Saturday was our only option to get in the event on the schedule. It was in both interests to try and make it work instead of just scratching the event. We were both happy to be able to keep the Noble Manor Open on the schedule. This event will most likely be the
last Junior Gold Event of the season.
Sunday, May 11th will be a special event for the JBRPT. Not only is it Mother's Day which has always been a great event for the JBRPT but the event will be the Russell and Jeanne Nesbit Memorial. This event has been an annual youth scholarship tournament given by Nesbits' Lanes Proprietor Rich Nesbit in honor of his parents.
None of todays youth bowlers were around when Russ Nesbit was with us. However, anyone who knew Russ saw his generosity and devotion to not only the bowling community but especially the junior bowlers. He truely was instumental in strengthening youth bowling in the Pittsburgh area "back in the day" and helped boost the future into where we are today. We were honored when Rich Nesbit asked us to make his annual memorial tournament a JBRPT event. This event has $1,000 added to the scholarship purse and will pay out the top 5 in each division. Make the cut, you cash!
Sunday, June 1st will start our second set of back to back weekends and will finish off the 2013-14 season with another bang. Our June 1st event will be our final regular season event and will take us to a new stop for the JBRPT when we travel to Emerson Lanes in Parkersburg, WV. This event has had our West Virginia friends and parents of bowlers working on it all season to make it a special one.
When they pushed for a stop in Parkersburg, the JBRPT wanted to ensure it would be a great tournament. Jamie Friese and Beth Brookover went to work on promotion and gathering sponsors to build the scholarship purse for the event. They have gathered $1,000 so far in scholarship money. Bowlers from not only Western PA but all over West Virginia and Southeastern Ohio are expected. This event will be a 10:30 am start.
Finally, the following Sunday, June 8th will close the 2013-14 JBRPT season with our Tournament of Champions. There was an uncertainty if the event would be Saturday the 7th or Sunday the 8th. A decision was made to keep it traditionally on Sunday which was needed by some bowlers as they are preparing for SAT tests.
The decision had no effect on the tour or the host center AMF Mt. Lebanon.
Bowlers qualify for TOC by: 1) event winner 2) point champion 3) attended all events on schedule 4) top 10 in points. Bowlers must have at least 6 events in to qualify. More detail will post closer to TOC.
